Sculpture Work
These sculptures were born out of my MFA studies at Florida Atlantic University, spanning from 2023 to 2025. Many of the works represent a visceral response to the atrocities of the ongoing war against Ukraine, triggered by the violence and devastation wrought by Putin's regime. Witnessing the destruction of hospitals, schools, cultural centers, and civilian homes and knowing each strike was accompanied by a telltale mushroom cloud compelled me to channel my emotions into form.
The resulting sculptures are an abstract yet poignant interpretation of both structural integrity and the haunting silhouette of a mushroom cloud. As I created these works, they evolved beyond mere objects; they transform into vessels of memory and narrative. Each piece is imbued with my reflections on the brutality of war and the innocence ensnared within its chaos.
While the darkness of conflict informs my work, it is my intention to transcend that despair. Through these sculptures, I aspire to evoke curiosity, celebrate beauty, and convey a sense of splendor that stands in stark contrast to the surrounding brutality. In this exploration, I hope to open a dialogue that acknowledges the profound impact of war on the human experience and invites viewers to confront the complexities of loss and resilience.
